What is the process of joining a sorority?
Each sorority has their own selection process during recruitment. ETSU has a mutual selection process that involves each girl narrowing down their favorite sororities during formal recruitment until she finds her 'home'. There are three nights of recruitment: philanthropy night, theme night, and preference night. Each night is a chance to get to know the girls in each sorority and learn what they all stand for. It might seem scary and intimidating at first but just be yourself and enjoy the experience and you'll be fine! Everyone is nervous talking to new people, even us on the other side so don't freak out! On Sunday(Bid Day) each sorority does their own thing to celebrate their wonderful new members!
How much does it cost to join a sorority?
It is important to know that when you join Kappa Delta you are expected to pay montly dues. These dues help run our chapter from social events to campus outreach events and of course community service events. We have several members that pay their own dues without their parents help each year. Do not let money hold you back from joining a sorority because the leadership experience and connections you make are completely worth it.
How will being Greek affect my student's grades?
Being in Kappa Delta is a time commitment, but academic excellence is one of our core values. We have resources available to our members and incentives for good grades. Being in Kappa Delta also helps you learn how to manage your time between community service, academics, and social events. Over 75% of our chapter has a cumulative GPA above a 3.0. If your daughter will put her mind to it there is nothing that can hold her back, especially if she has sisters to help her through it.
Is hazing tolerated in Kappa Delta?
You can be assured that your daughter will go through no hazing process to join our sorority. Kappa Delta has a very strict no hazing policy. During your daughter's new member period she will be treated like a princess. We like to call them our 'babies' and we do everything to make sure they are enjoying their first year of college. Don't worry your daughter is in good hands.
